Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive Siem Reap Angkor International Airport

  • Arrival at Siem Reap Angkor International Airport
  • Meet and greet by our English-speaking tour guide and transfer to the hotel in Siem Reap
  • Free time for leisure; enjoy the nightlife at Pub Street, the hub of activity when night falls in Siem Reap

Day 2

Angkor Wat – Small Circuit

  • Enjoy breakfast at the hotel
  • Visit the South Gate of Angkor Thom, also known as Tonle Om Gate, one of the five ancient gates and a famous spot within Angkor Archaeological Park. Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Khmer Empire, was a fortified city built by King Jayavarman VII in the late 12th century.
  • Visit Bayon Temple, a richly decorated Khmer temple related to Buddhism, built in the late 12th or early 13th century as the state temple of King Jayavarman VII.
  • Explore Baphuon, northwest of Bayon, a Hindu temple built before Angkor Wat in the mid-11th century.
  • Visit Phimeanakas, a pyramid Hindu temple built at the end of the 10th century located inside the Royal Palace enclosure of Angkor Thom.
  • See the Terrace of the Elephants, part of Angkor Thom’s walled city, used by King Jayavarman VII as a platform to view his victorious returning army. Then visit the Terrace of the Leper King, just north of the Terrace of the Elephants, built in Bayon style under Jayavarman VII.
  • Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant
  • Continue to the magnificent Angkor Wat temple complex, the largest religious monument in the world, built in the early 12th century by King Suryavarman II as a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu, later gradually transformed into a Buddhist temple.
  • Visit the fabulous Ta Prohm temple, famous for being embraced by enormous fig tree roots and as the filming location for the movie "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider".
  • Climb Phnom Bakheng hill to watch a stunning sunset view. Phnom Bakheng is the most popular tourist spot for sunset views of Angkor Wat, located about 1.5km to the southeast amidst the jungle.
  • Enjoy dinner and transfer back to the hotel

    Note: Due to limited visitor numbers at Phnom Bakheng during peak times, climbing starts earlier and expect a wait of around 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours for sunset viewing.

    Optional-(Exclude):
    • Shadow Puppet Performance: Experience Khmer storytelling through traditional shadow puppetry using light and leather. After the show, try your hand at traditional string puppets. Showtime at 7:00pm.

Day 3

Angkor Wat Sunrise – Kulen Mountain

  • Early pickup at 4:30am from your hotel lobby to watch the sunrise at Angkor Wat. Return to the hotel for breakfast afterward.
  • Visit Kulen Mountain (Phnom Kulen National Park), about 65km from Siem Reap city. It is a holy mountain for Hindus and Buddhists and was the significant home of the ancient Khmer Empire when King Jayavarman II proclaimed independence from Java in 804 CE.
  • Walk along the sacred river to see the 1,000 Lingas carvings in the riverbed.
  • Visit the large Reclining Buddha statue carved from natural giant rock at the hilltop, called Preah Ang Thom.
  • Visit Kulen Waterfall, the most beautiful waterfall in Siem Reap, with opportunities for swimming and enjoying nature.
  • Drive back down from Kulen Mountain.
  • Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
  • Visit Banteay Srei Temple, known as the “Ladies Temple,” built from pink and red sandstone in the mid-10th century, dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.
  • Visit Banteay Samre Temple, built during the reigns of Suryavarman II and Yasovarman II in the early 12th century, with architecture similar to Angkor Wat.
  • Short visit to Preah Dak Village, a hidden gem showcasing authentic Khmer culture (time permitting).
  • Visit Pre Rup Temple, built in the late 10th century and dedicated to Hindu gods. "Pre Rup" means "Turn the Body," reflecting Cambodian funeral customs.
  • Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and transfer back to the hotel.

    Optional-(Exclude):
    • Phare Circus: More than a circus, combining theater, music, dance, and modern circus arts to tell uniquely Cambodian stories. Showtime at 8:00pm.

Day 4

Tonle Sap – Beng Mealea

  • Enjoy breakfast at the hotel.
  • Visit Kampong Phluk, a floating village and flooded mangrove forest on Tonle Sap Lake. Houses are built on stilts 6m to 9m high to accommodate seasonal water level changes. Boat tour through forest canals to see flora, fauna, and the beautiful ecosystem.
  • Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
  • Visit Beng Mealea, about 68km northeast of Siem Reap. Known as the “jungle temple,” it was almost fully covered by jungle until recently cleared. Built in the 12th century under King Suryavarman II, it has the same floorplan as Angkor Wat.
  • Return to Siem Reap.
  • If time permits, visit Artisans Angkor, famous for traditional crafts like stone and wood carving, lacquering, gilding, and silk processing.
  • Stroll around the Old Market for souvenirs and bargaining like a local.
  • Enjoy dinner and transfer back to the hotel.

    Optional-(Exclude):
    • Ox Cart Ride: Take a 30-minute ox cart ride through Bakong village to see local daily life, rice paddies, and scenic countryside views. The ox cart is a traditional mode of Cambodian transport.
    • Cambodian Cooking Class: A 3-hour class with a local chef, including a visit to a local market to shop for ingredients and learn to cook Khmer cuisine.

Day 5

Hotel – Airport

  • Enjoy breakfast at the hotel.
  • Transfer to Siem Reap International Airport and wait for your flight back home.

    Note: Please dress appropriately when visiting temples. Pants or skirts should cover the knees, and shirts must cover the shoulders—no sleeveless tops or singlets allowed. Authorities may deny entry or climbing access to those dressed inappropriately.
